Grilled Sweet Potato Steak Fries

These steak fries with a hint of brown sugar are incredibly flavorful on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. 


  • 2 large sweet potatoes or yams
  • ¼ lb butter
  • Brown sugar
  • Salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper 


  • Cut the potatoes lengthwise an 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.
  • Melt the butter in the microwave.
  • Brush the butter onto the potatoes to soften.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the potatoes and then dust them generously with brown sugar.
  • Spread the slices out on a piece of foil and then cover them with another piece of foil.
  • Preheat the grill to medium high heat. Grill for about 30 minutes or until slices get soft.
